The 2018 Flower Festival - This Earthly Paradise

Flower Festival 2018 poster

The title of our 2018 event was This Earthly Paradise.  Our nationally acclaimed biennial floral extravaganza, as usual, transformed our stunning Cathedral with a vast array of arrangements this year interpreting and exploring the topics of plant hunting, botany, horticulture and gardening, celebrating the plants which give the continents their unique identity and feed the imagination, and which continue to inspire today’s gardeners and explorers.

Returning for her second festival, the theme wass the brainchild of this year's Festival Designer, Jose Morum Pound.

We are delighted that British designer and business woman, Emma Bridgewater, whose ceramics have a world-wide following, was the Patron of the 2018 Festival of Flowers.

Also, following in the long established tradition here at Chichester Cathedral Flower Festivals, we are pleased that this year's Festival Flower was the Nostalgia rose, grown by local rose specialists Apuldram Roses.

What else was on at the festival?
In addition to some 80 or so stunning arrangements, visitors enjoyed:

  • Festival fair & plant market - Situated in and around the Cathedral Cloisters featuring stalls selling food, clothing, gifts, plants and garden items
  • Flower market - beautiful bouquets and delightful tea cup posies
  • Philip Jackson Sculpture Exhibition - tickets included entry to the exhibition in the Eastern arm of the Cloister.  Philip is a renowned sculptor whose powerful and beautifully sculpted creations are recognisable worldwide
  • Refreshments - available during the day, including breakfast, hot lunches, salads, sandwiches and delicious cream teas from Cloisters Café and Café des Fleurs.
